Pathology Organisations in Australia

Below are three examples of different external bodies of governance which regulate private pathology laboratories such as Metropath. A brief description of their roles and responsibilities in relation to us is outlined below. NATANATA

NATA stands for the National Association of Testing Authorities, Australia, and is the accreditation board that allows private pathology practices (and other health services), permission to bill Medicare for tests and services.

RCPARCPA

The RCPA is the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia, of which pathologists can be members (or ‘fellows’). They run and support many continuing education programs in the pathology field, such as the Quality Assurance Program which are periodic practical tests for pathology teams to complete.
